"I walked out of every class with an interesting new perspective to consider.… This truly has been an innovative learning experience that cannot be found in any traditional learning environment."—Emily Ewing, Art & Environment student, 2010

Are you eco-conscious and interested in contemporary art? Will you be in 11th or 12th grade next fall (2011)? Here's a chance to learn more about the intersections of art and environmental protection at The Ohio State University, while also earning academic credit through your own school district.

STUDENTS: Spots are still available for the Fall 2011 course. Completed, qualified applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis until all spots are filled. The class itself begins Wednesday, August 24, 2011, and continues through Wednesday, January 11, 2012, meeting from 1:30 to 4:00 PM on Wednesdays.

Students in the course come to the Wexner Center on Wednesday afternoons to explore contemporary art and see how artists, scientists, and activists are working together to protect our natural environment. Students get to meet and interview contemporary artists involved in Wexner Center projects and take field trips to environmental research and service sites around Columbus and further afield. Students even have the opportunity to exhibit their final artwork at the Wexner Center.

Art & Environment is open to high school juniors and seniors in central Ohio. The course is free to those admitted and comes with transportation assistance, free books, and supplies. High school course credit is arranged with individual school systems.
