The Wexner Center for the Arts is joining with art museums around the world to celebrate Art Museum Day, a national and international day to emphasize the lasting impact art museums have on their communities.

We’ll be offering free admission to our acclaimed trio of spring exhibitions (open 11 AM to 6 PM), as well as free admission to the documentary Behind Enemy Lines: The Real Charlotte Grays introduced by director Jenny Morgan and screening this afternoon (in the Film/Video Theater at 4 PM). The movie, which is about the experiences and memories of female agents in Nazi-occupied France, especially ties into the theme of “museum and memory” shared by participating museums across the country and abroad. Art Museum Day is an initiative of the Association of Art Museum Directors that coincides with and complements International Museum Day, which includes all types of museums among its participants and has been organized annually since 1977 by the International Council of Museums.

You can also celebrate Art Museum Day at the Columbus Museum of Art on Sunday, May 22.
