BUGS (for grades 3-5) with Brooke Hunter-Lombardi

Students in this class will work with mixed-media artist and bug-lover Brooke Hunter-Lombardi as she shares her fascination with the life of insects.

They’ll watch bugs in their own habitat from ground level and learn about the important role they play in our larger ecosystem. Students will also collaborate with the bugs themselves to make experimental drawings and mixed-media projects.

This is one of three special SUPER NATURAL outdoor workshops, being held this summer at Ohio State's Chadwick Arboretum.

Brooke Hunter-Lombardi is a hometown artist, born and raised in Columbus. She is thrilled to share her interests and imagination with children in Summer Kids workshops at the Wexner Center. Brooke marvels at the meeting of science and art in her day-to-day world, which she is exploring through assemblage, new media, and printmaking. She is currently completing her MFA at Ohio State in printmaking.

Registration fees are just $95 per student, per workshop for the general public. Wexner Center members save: members' registration is just $75 per student, per workshop.

Locations and Equipment
All classes will be held on the top floor of Sullivant Hall OR at the Chadwick Arboretum on the Ohio State campus. Students will receive confirmation information and directions to the drop-off point for each workshop via e-mail.

In our computer classes students will work on a Macintosh laptop. Children are welcome to bring digital cameras from home for photography-related classes; but please remember to include the cord, battery-charging system, and an empty memory chip. If you don’t have a digital camera, just let us know and we will provide one.

Changes and Cancellations
Dates and times are subject to change. The Wexner Center reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment without incurring obligations. If a class is canceled, you may transfer to another class or request a full tuition refund. If you withdraw from a summer workshop up to seven days before the event, you will receive a full refund less a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given after that time.

Friday Celebrations
Each Summer Kids workshop culminates in a final celebration during the last half-hour of class. Parents, guardians, friends, and family are invited to join the class at this time to see what the young artists have done.
