Dorothy Allison

Proclaimed "one of the finest writers of her generation" by the Boston Globe, Dorothy Allison visits the Wexner Center to discuss and read from her work. Known for her best-selling novel Bastard Out of Carolina (1993), a finalist for the 1992 National Book Award, Allison has also penned a second novel, Cavedweller (1998); Two or Three Things I Know for Sure (1995), a chapbook of her performance work and a New York Times Book Review notable book of the year; Skin: Talking About Sex, Class and Literature (1995), a collection of essays, speeches, and performance pieces; and Trash (1989), a collection of short stories.

In 1998, Allison founded The Independent Spirit Award, an annual prize given to honor an individual whose work sustains small presses and independent bookstores.
