Delve into William Kentridge’s multimedia installation The Refusal of Time and its connections to other works by the acclaimed artist with art historian Margaret K. Koerner. Koerner recently curated William Kentridge / Smoke, Ashes, Fable, a major exhibition highlighting the themes of trauma and healing in Kentridge’s work that was presented in Bruges’s 12th-century Saint John’s Hospital. Her course on Kentridge at Harvard was probably the first-ever monographic graduate seminar on a living artist at that university.

Primarily a historian of Renaissance art, Koerner has also taught at Indiana University (Bloomington) and the Courtauld Institute of Art (London) and worked at the Art Institute of Chicago and The Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York). She earned her PhD in art history at Columbia University.

Kentridge’s spectacular, thought-provoking installation The Refusal of Time is on view at the Wex February 3–April 15, 2018.
