Artist Mike Glier joins us for an interesting talk about art and politics. Glier's practice reflects his belief that "the simple act of looking carefully at the surrounding world is the most profound thing an artist can do." He is an associate professor at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. Presented by Ohio Stateís Department of Art. Cosponsored by the Wexner Center. Glier's work includes large public murals and intimate paintings and drawings, whether his subject is laundry, polluted rivers, or the flight recorder from TWA's Flight 800. Wexner Center audiences may remember him from The Alphabet of Lili, a series of large acrylic and charcoal drawings (commissioned by The Drawing Center, New York City) that were exhibited here in 1993.
