Couture week in Paris (or Project Runway) meets thrift store chic, with the added interest of self-discovery and self-expression in this two-day intergenerational workshop on Mother's Day weekend. We’re encouraging participation by adult/teen or adult/tween teams of any and all genders.

Using thrift store finds as our raw materials, we’ll each create a look for an imagined self through draping, pattern-making, wrapping, constructing, extreme sewing, embroidery, crochet, knitting, gluing, and stapling, to name a few of the crafty angles we have in mind. We'll ask ourselves about the kind of self-portraits we generate by the clothes we wear, and we'll explore who we are with garments and accessories—and on paper with short prose poems and character studies. The workshop designed by Nancy Kangas is a chance to exercise your clothes sense, creatively. Together you can also rechannel free-spending “fashionista” tendencies into those of a style- and budget-conscious recycling "recessionista."
