Starlight Matinee: A Puppet Family Day

Internationally acclaimed Montreal puppetry group ThȂtre de l'Oeil travels to the Wexner Center to present its original production The Star Keeper. Come enjoy the show and join in the fun with related activities.

Please note: Today is the Columbus Marathon, so allow extra time if your route to the Wexner Center crosses that of the race. Using rod, marionette, and shadow puppets, The Star Keeper tells a magical story about a star that falls from the sky and its journey back home under the care of a gentle creature called Pretzel. A wordless production, the story incorporates poetic visuals, music, and fantasy.

As part of the day, professional puppeteers will guide you in creating and performing with your own celestial creatures. You can also join in on some group funÛcreate a gigantic puppet and bring it to life together!

Learn about the many ways puppet creatures are created and brought to life as this self-guided tour leads you from activity to activity. There's a prize for every child who completes the tour!

Shapes & Shadows

Puppet artist Kevin Fish guides you in creating your own unique shadow puppets. Practice in a special rehearsal space and then stage your own puppet show. If you would like to perform for a live audience, please arrive 15 minutes before the showtimes listed below.

Showtimes: 1:15 pm and 2:15 pm
Puppeters Arrive: 1 pm and 2 pm
Impromptu puppet performances are welcome at all other times.

Have you ever wanted to perform on TV? Puppet artist Jennifer Stoessner guides you in making rod puppets and performing them in front of a live camera. Then you can watch your puppets become TV stars on nearby monitors.
