Explore an influential Brazilian art movement in a performance and day-long workshop.

Join Flavia Bastos, assistant professor of art education at the University of Cincinnati; Carlos Basualdo, Wexner Center Chief Curator of Exhibitions; and music educator Becky Ogden as they introduce you to the arts of Brazil, focusing on the cultural conditions and the aesthetic issues that came into play in their production.

Using the exhibition Helio Oiticica: Quasi-cinemas and a concert by Brazilian singer-songwriter Vinicius Cantuaria as starting points, you'll explore the visual art, music, and dance that emerged out of Tropicalism. In this influential Brazilian art movement of the 1960s, artists pioneered an art of social and political consequence.

OSU graduate credit is available (Art Ed 795, 01 credit). Call for details. Registration for noncredit is also available.
