Praised by the New York Times Book Review for his "exquisite hold on life," Wyatt Prunty discusses and reads from his collections of poetry published over the past twenty years. Prunty is Carlton Professor of English at Sewanee: The University of the South, where he founded and directs the Sewanee Writers' Conference and edits the Sewanee Writers' Series. Presented by Ohio State's Creative Writing Program, Department of English. Cosponsored by the Wexner Center. Prunty's books of poetry include Unarmed and Dangerous: New and Selected Poems (2000), Since the Noon Mail Stopped (1997), The Run of the House (1993), and Balance as Belief (1989) among others. He is also the author of a critical work on contemporary poetry, "Fallen from the Symboled World": Precedents for the New Formalism (1990). He recently received a residency award from The Rockefeller Foundation's Bellagio Center and a fellowship from The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.
