Around Columbus

Two young men in baseball caps are seen from behind outdoors at dusk in a scene from Stanya Kahn's short film No Go Backs

  • Late yesterday, Wex director Johanna Burton announced that the center will remain closed through at least April 30.
  • According to Columbus Underground's Jeff Regensburger, "Just because museums and galleries are physically inaccessible, that doesn’t mean we can’t think about art, engage with it and learn from it." He makes the point in his new review of Stanya Kahn: No Go Backs.
  • In other good reads—at what feels like an ideal moment—Columbus Alive has an inspiring group of Best of Columbus picks, from author Saeed Jones to highway sign artist Cecily King. Editor Andy Downing collected them all in a convenient Twitter thread.
  • Billy Ireland Cartoon Library curator Caitlin McGurk has a treat for the ears: a "Quarantunes" playlist of songs with a lyrical connection to comics, featuring artists such as Prince, The Ramones, and Alicia Keys.
  • Some local writers and performers have found an income source in livestreaming.
  • Here's what's new on local restaurants such as The Refectory adapting to shelter-in-place.
  • There's now a Google doc with info on how to order from local farmers, bakers, and other food vendors affected by current events.
  • Local entrepreneurs including Wex board member and longtime supporter Jeni Britton Bauer have united to fundraise for a program to feed 20,000 central Ohioans at risk.
  • And GCAC is more than a third of the way toward its fundraising goal for emergency grants.
