Charles Burnett

The Wex is proud to welcome Charles Burnett—both for his first visit and to mark the 40th anniversary of his groundbreaking film Killer of Sheep. One of the most acclaimed and influential independent filmmakers of his generation, Burnett was a key figure of the LA Rebellion, a group of young African American directors who came to the fore against the backdrop of the 1965 Watts Uprising and the era’s civil rights movement.
