Retrospective: Lucrecia Martel
“One of the most prodigiously talented and critically adulated filmmakers in contemporary world cinema.”—BOMB Magazine
“When you discover an auteur so original, mature and elusive as Lucrecia Martel, you feel as if you’re witnessing a miracle.”—Pedro Almódovar in IndieWire
Lucrecia Martel creates psychologically astute, sensually immersive films replete with nuanced gestures, sounds, and striking imagery. Emerging from the New Argentine Cinema movement at the start of the 21st century, her reputation as one of today’s great cinematic stylists grew with the release of three consecutive masterpieces. After a nine-year gap, Martel has returned with her most ambitious film yet, Zama, which she introduces on April 18. Welcome one of today’s most distinctive and distinguished filmmakers on her first visit to Columbus!
