Visiting Filmmakers

Rising stars and acclaimed masters come to screen their films and talk with Wexner Center audiences.

Sat, May 12, 2012 7 PM

Strong! is the illuminating portrait of three-time Olympic weightlifter Cheryl Haworth as she struggles to maintain her place as one of the premiere women lifters in the world.

A bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games and America’s top weightlifter since she was 14, Haworth is an elite international athlete but faces many day-to-day issues caused by the very things that make her successful at her sport. At 300 pounds, she doesn’t fit into all chairs, standard clothing sizes don’t fit her, and her celebrated body type for her sport often causes her to be shunned by mainstream culture. (75 mins., video)

Stay for a Q & A session after the film with Haworth and Wyman, who also introduce the screening.
