"A tasty sonic aperitif to an unfamiliar world."--NEWSDAY

German/Turkish director Fatih Akin (Head-On) and pioneering musician Alexander Hacke tour the diverse musical and cultural mix that makes Istanbul the crossroads of East and West.

German/Turkish director Fatih Akin's previous film, Head-On (a hit of the center's 2005 season), was fueled by a captivating mix of Western rock and traditional Turkish music. In Akin's lively and fascinating documentary Crossing the Bridge, pioneering musician Alexander Hacke (of German avant-garde band Einsturzende Neubauten) leads an even more thorough journey through the diverse musical and cultural melange that can be found in Istanbul, the crossroads of the East and West. (92 mins., 35mm)
