"Extraordinary...spellbinding...together, they created a multitude of visual and sonic wonders."--New York Times on the premiere of mercy

Explore new horizons in performance with two of America's most intelligent and unclassifiable talents: famed choreographer and composer Meredith Monk and internationally acclaimed, Columbus-based artist Ann Hamilton. These kindred spirits both reach beyond conventional frames for expression, and Monk's boundary blurring interests in dance, theater, music, and film mirror Hamilton's own transcendent impulses.

For mercy, Monk and Hamilton promise a vision of haunting spiritual and earthly splendor, a world whose darkness is tempered by shimmering wit and joyous humanity. This new joint project co-commissioned by the Wexner Center looks to be an intriguing successor to Monk's groundbreaking opera Atlas and Hamilton's previous Wexner Center projects--appetite, her collaboration with choreographer Meg Stuart, and the body and the object, her Wexner Center--organized retrospective exhibition.
