"An infectious sonic tapestry that weaves together blistering free jazz, simmering blues, swaggering funk and searing rock..."—All About Jazz

Chicago jazz force/composer/multi-reedman Ken Vandermark, who is always involved in a myriad of musical projects, arrives at the Wexner Center with his flagship group Vandermark 5. The quintet's line-up has evolved and now includes the extraordinary saxophonist Dave Rempis and cellist and improv master Fred Lonberg-Holm alongside Kent Kessler on bass and Tim Daisy on percussion. Bringing rock, funk and contemporary compositional strategies into the mix of their bedrock blasting jazz, Vandermark 5 will enliven the night with the vital sounds that they showcased on their most recent release Beat Reader on the Atavistic label. Catch them in action here as they wend their way towards a date at the prestigious Newport Jazz Festival.
