"The fairy godmother of puppet theatre."—Evening News (Scotland)

In these performances especially for school groups (grades 1-6), Scottish puppeteer Shona Reppe offers a witty contemporary take on the classic fairy tale of Cinderella. Using an ingenious table top stage, a "Magic Handbag" that transforms Cinderella into the belle of the ball, shadow puppetry, and object theater, Shona Reppe's one-woman show includes humorous commentary on contemporary issues of fame, gender, and class. It's a great opportunity for teachers and students to discuss and compare narrative structure and authorial "voice."

Reppe's Cinderella received the Total Theatre Award at the 2002 Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has toured Britain, Canada, and the United States.

Presented in collaboration with the Department of Theatre, The Ohio State University.
