Don’t miss this chance to hear from photographer Catherine Opie and painter Jack Whitten, who share a stage for the first time in this talk moderated by acclaimed art critic Tyler Green, host of the Modern Art Notes Podcast. The work of these two renowned artists is on view in our spring exhibitions, Catherine Opie: Portraits and Landscapes and Jack Whitten: Five Decades of Painting.
Join us for what promises to be a dynamic conversation about what painting shares with photography and art’s potential for bridging the personal and the political, as well as other reflections gleaned from the artists’ over 80 years of image making. Then stay afterward for the exhibition preview celebration, with complimentary snacks, a cash bar, and DJ CitizenDorianS, who spins tunes in the café 6–9 PM. The galleries open at 4 PM so you can view the exhibitions before the talk. Arrive early—seating for the conversation is first come, first served.
RSVP for the exhibition preview here or by emailing rsvp@wexarts.org.
