"Hypnotizing! Poetic!"--Village Voice

Repertorio Español from New York City brings to life one of the best known works of Latin American literature. Gabriel García Márquez's brilliant Cronica de una muerte anunciada (Chronicle of a Death Foretold) is a murder mystery that's simultaneously a profound exploration of human nature and the power of the collective over the individual.

The recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982, García Márquez is one of the leading Latin American authors of all time. Repertorio Español was founded in 1968 and has made it its mission to bring Spanish-language theater to broad audiences. The production company includes actors with roots in Colombia, Argentina, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.

This presentation offers an unusual opportunity to enjoy a live theatrical performance in Columbus staged completely in Spanish. An audio English translation is available using special headphones and can be requested at the time of ticket purchase. The event is organized by Ohio State's Hispanic/Latino community in an effort to provide diverse Latino experiences for the university and central Ohio communities.

Following the performance, the Spanish-language newspaper Fronteras de la Noticia (a sister publication to the Columbus Dispatch) hosts its second anniversary party at the Wexner Center. Admission is free for the party, which features live music and a cash bar.

Free parking is available for this event in the Ohio Union Parking Garage. About Gabriel García Márquez
