Director's Welcome

Welcome to wexarts.org, the online portal to the Wexner Center for the Arts at The Ohio State University. This is the place to find the most up-to-date information about the center’s near-constant stream of exhibitions, performances, film/video screenings, discussions, talks, tours, and workshops.

It’s also where you can sign up for news of Wex programs and events you don’t want to miss. Personalize your e-mail profile to receive just those updates that matter most to you—a process that’s now easier than ever with recent enhancements to this site. Of course, we encourage you to leap beyond your comfort zone and check all the boxes to learn about the full array of Wex programs. One never knows where that spark of inspiration, connectivity, or fresh thinking might be found!

Why not escape frigid outdoor temperatures and venture inside the Wex, where artistry is always ablaze, regardless of the season? On February 2, we launch our winter exhibitions, featuring a retrospective of fashion provocateur Todd Oldham as well as a stunning installation by multimedia artist William Kentridge. This winter we’ll also present a fresh season of adventurous music, dance, and theater performances—whether by rising jazz stars or accomplished dancers hailing from iconic companies led by Merce Cunningham and Trisha Brown. And, as always, you’ll find an incredible assortment of classic films, documentaries, and new features from around the world, including the return of Cinema Revival: A Festival of Film Restoration (Feb 22–27).

We remain committed to presenting the foremost artists of our time in our galleries, onstage, and onscreen—often highlighting work that was made with Wex residency or commissioning support. Just one recent example was A Thousand Thoughts: A Live Documentary by Sam Green and Kronos Quartet. Anyone fortunate to have been with us on the evening of January 25 for its world premiere witnessed a truly landmark event, which crowds greeted with the sort of enthusiasm typically reserved for sporting events or rock concerts! It was a rapturous homecoming for these formidable artists who have graced the Wexner Center stage so many times over the last 28 years. We’re delighted to coproduce and present such unique and illuminating experiences to Columbus audiences and, indeed, to those around the world. I hope your virtual visit encourages you to see the Wex in person—there’s simply no substitute for the real thing!

Wishing you the best,

Sherri Geldin
