Susan Sarandon in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Seemingly half of Keanu Reeves' characters. Gummo. From a film perspective, Ohioans have always been portrayed in narrow light, iconic, naive, and backwards. Three years ago, in a Dallas airport bar, brothers Bill and Turner Ross set out to rewrite the script, changing in some small part the way our native state is viewed. The result is 45365, a documentary about the brothers' hometown of Sidney, Ohio, which will screen at the Wexner Center this month (Aug. 14-15). A production of massive proportions, the film has not only helped to change the lens through which Ohio is viewed, but has also altered the lives of the filmmakers themselves.
