Video: Zoom 2009

May 18, 2010

This short video about the Wexner Center's 2009 Zoom: Family Film Festival was made by Upper Arlington High School senior Mitchell Rogers as his “capstone” project (a service project that many high schools now require of their juniors or seniors). Wexner Center educator Jean Pitman worked with Rogers so he could shoot and then edit this piece on Zoom from his perspective. Zoom is an annual long-weekend of films and fun for all ages with special events such as the ever-popular Saturday morning cereal and pajama party and an ice cream social featuring Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams.

Rogers is also working on a piece about a specific event from Zoom in 2009: screenings of Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation introduced by that film's star, Chris Strompolos, and director, Eric Zala, followed by a Q&A session. Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation is a shot-for-shot remake of the 1981 classic by Steven Spielberg made between 1982 and 1989 by three boys who were just preteens when they started the project.

Jean and others on the Wexner Center staff are already looking ahead and planning for the next Zoom: Family Film Festival in early December 2010. It will be here before you know it!
