Vitaphone Program Finalized

Feb 03, 2009

We just finalized the list for our Vitaphone program on Thursday. I think audience members might be surprised at how entertaining they find the program and how much they enjoy the wonderful time capsule aspect of the evening. The shorts primarily consist of filmed records of popular musical and stage acts of the day but the last two (featuring Spencer Tracy and Edgar Bergen) are short narratives that would have been included in the program of short films, along with the cartoons and newsreels, which ran before the feature attraction. While this program features a number of names that are still familiar today, I think many would argue the most entertaining shorts are those that feature acts lost to the passage of time. - Dave Filipi, Curator, Film/Video
