Three Films by Med Hondo

A composite image of three stills shown in the series Three Films by Med Hondo.
Groundbreaking odes to the revolutionary possibilities of cinema.

This March, the Wex presents three of Med Hondo’s most celebrated films, each showcasing his formal cinematic talents and uncompromising vision. Each one of these films takes on questions of history, identity, colonization, and revolution from a different vantage point. Throughout his decades-long career, the French Mauritanian director exposed degradations faced by African migrants, celebrated leaders and revolutionaries of the African diaspora, and remained committed to the emancipation of oppressed peoples everywhere.

Three Films by Med Hondo is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Sarah Maldoror: Tricontinental Cinema.
