Aliens

(James Cameron, 1986)

70MM Print

A woman with a dirty white t shirt holds a child and a large gun.

The only place in Ohio to see this original release 70mm print of Aliens is at the Wex!

An early blockbuster from James Cameron—after The Terminator but before Titanic—the second installment of the Alien franchise is widely regarded as one of the great films of the sci-fi/horror genre. In it, Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is found floating through space in cryogenic stasis 57 years after surviving her first encounter with alien eggs on the moon LV-426. Back on Earth and barely thawed out, she is quickly charged with leading a team of marines to investigate the now-colonized moon after communication with its inhabitants is lost. Will they find colonists or…ALIENS? (137 mins., 70mm)

The Wex is showing is an original release 70mm print with a magnetic soundtrack from 1986. The sound will be richer, but, because it is a 40-year-old film print, it will show natural signs of wear from years of going through projectors. The print is only being made available to theaters that can project 70mm on reel-to-reel projectors, and the Wex is one of very few venues in the country with that capability. Join us for this exclusive opportunity to experience a piece of film history!
