Amadeus Director's Cut

Milos Forman, 1984/2002

"'Amadeus is about as close to perfection as movies get,' I wrote in 1984. Now it's 20 minutes closer."—Jack Matthews, New York Daily News

Amadeus swept the Oscar race in 1984 with its lively, irreverent take on the musical genius of Mozart (Tom Hulce) and his bitter rival composer Salieri (F. Murray Abraham). This director's cut restores about 20 minutes of footage that Milos Forman was forced to cut before the film's first release, including a brief topless scene of Mozart's wife and a music lesson gone wrong (in a room full of restless dogs). Above all, there's a refurbished digital soundtrack highlighting Mozart's inimitable musical gifts. (180 mins.)
