Tonight's program features short films created in a variety of media that take most or all of their footage from video games. Artist Cory Arcangel will be on hand to introduce Super Mario Movie and discuss his approach to using obsolete video game programming and computer systems as an artistic medium. The array of styles and tones of the films is almost as diverse as the eras of video game technology represented--from 1980s' Nintendo cartridges right up to today's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas game, which is featured in the premiere screening of a new video by the lyrical filmmaker Phil Solomon.
