The Braveheart Will Take the Bride changed the face of Bollywood in its unprecedented treatment of Indians living abroad.

Set partly in Europe and partly in India, it's about a London shopkeeper's daughter promised in marriage to a man in India. The film "became a trendsetter, spawning an avalanche of imitations," according to the British Film Institute's Modern Classics book on this work. (189 mins.)
