Constantine’s Sword is a documentary about religious intolerance that is as gripping as a detective story or personal journey. The film follows National Book Award–winning writer James Carroll, a former Catholic priest, as he confronts his past and uncovers the roots of religiously inspired violence and war.

It focuses on Christian anti-Semitism as the model for all religious hatred and exposing the cross as a symbol of a long history of violence against Jews (and, more recently, Muslims). Constantine’s Sword brings the history of religious intolerance to life, tracing it as a source of the fanaticism threatening the world today. (95 mins., 35mm)

Join us following the screening on August 2 for a Q&A session with three people featured in the film: Military Religious Freedom Foundation founder Michael Weinstein, author of With God on Our Side: One Man’s War Against an Evangelical Coup in America’s Military, son Casey Weinstein and his wife Amanda Weinstein. All three are graduates of the Air Force Academy. A reception sponsored by the Columbus Jewish Foundation follows in the Wexner café.
