"The most adrenalizing on-screen experience."Toronto Star

Canadian movie maverick Guy Maddin comes to the Wexner Center to chat about his films. Tonight's event includes a screening of Maddin's extraordinary short The Heart of the World.

A raconteur of remarkable drollness, Maddin will introduce clips from his films and share his near-encyclopedic yet utterly eccentric mastery of film history. He'll also talk about his short, The Heart of the World, a five-minute tour-de-force pastiche of Soviet silent cinema that some critics have called last year's best film. Maddin himself has referred to it as a "frenzied feature-compressed-into-a-short...a plea to reinvent movies from scratch, or a reverent myth which finally places film at the very center of the universe where it belongs." (2000; 5 min.)

After the conversation, Guy Maddin signs copies of Kino Delirium: The Films of Guy Maddin, available at the Wexner Center Bookshop.

Visiting filmmaker presentations presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council.
