Cosmos

(Andrzej Żuławski, 2015)

Cosmos

Żuławski’s final film, Cosmos, transforms Witold Gombrowicz’s novel of the same name into a frenetic exploration of desire. Two young men—a failed law student and his companion, who has just quit his job—check in at a guest house in the woods. Things take a dark and surreal turn when the student becomes obsessed with the innkeeper’s daughter and the men realize they’ve entered a mysterious, chaotic world. Winner of the Best Director award at the Locarno Film Festival. (97 mins., DCP)
