In Disgraced Monuments, filmmakers Laura Mulvey and Mark Lewis use rare archival footage and interviews with sculptors, art historians, and gallery and museum directors to examine the fate of Soviet-era monuments after the collapse of communism. (49 mins.)
Mulvey, author of the much-reprinted 1975 essay "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema" and the book Fetishism and Curiosity (1996), teaches film theory at Birbeck College, University of London.
