Barnet acts under the direction of Lev Kuleshov in Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks. Girl with the Hatbox is his directing debut. Sue Harshe provides live musical accompaniment for both films.

Second feature start time: 8:45 pm. Barnet was trained in the famed Moscow workshop of Lev Kuleshov, who directs Barnet as an actor in The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviks. Itís a dazzling slapstick mockery of U.S.-Soviet relations, with Barnet playing the cowboy-bodyguard to the president of the YMCA. (1924, 94 mins.).

Barnet's directing debut, Girl with the Hatbox, is a playful comedy about a country girl (Anna Sten) who moves to the city and quickly acquires one too many suitors. (1927, 70 mins.)
