Six years in the making, this astonishingly beautiful new film from the directors of Microcosmos offers an ultra-close view of the mysteries of the universe and the cycle of life. An African griot (storyteller and keeper of traditions) narrates the fable-like story of the origin of the universe with a touch of poetry and magic. But the true stars of Genesis are the wondrous array of animals filmed in eye-popping detail. The crisp photography provides glimpses of seahorses, mudskippers, toads, daddy longlegs, and a myriad of other creatures as they've never been seen before. (France, 80 mins.)

Recommended for ages 8 and up. Subtitles will not be read aloud for this film.

Rated G. Reproductive behavior among animals is part of this film.
