The inspiring documentary Jambo Kenya follows the experience of a group of Canadian teenagers as they embark on a transformative mission: to travel to Kenya and build a new school for a group of children there. The young people form touching attachments to the Kenyan children, they delight in a wildlife safari, and their resolve is challenged as they pursue the backbreaking work of building a strong foundation for the school. One of the Canadian students has Masai relatives and is thrilled to encounter firsthand his familial resemblance to these stately people. The middle-class North American students learn much about poverty, cultural difference, and their own potential to enact change. Young audiences in Columbus will empathize with these teenagers' past experience and see a possible future role for themselves through the characters' eyes. (58 mins.)

Recommended for ages 8 and up.
