The Long Holiday

This deeply personal film documents van der Keuken's last global tour, a journey that begins with his being diagnosed with cancer. In 1998, van der Keuken was told by his radiologist that he had only a few years to live. With that in mind, he and his wife Noshka van der Lely took off, traveling around the world while producing a filmed chronicle of what could be his last global tour--The Long Holiday (142 mins.). After exploring alternative therapies and trekking a path from Bhutan to Brazil, the filmmaker visits a doctor in New York, from whom he receives a much more optimistic outlook.
