Winner of virtually all of the Australian film industry's highest awards, Look Both Ways is the first live-action feature from acclaimed Australian animator Sarah Watt. Time magazine calls this film "wonderful…Watt captures the protean nature of life with dazzling dexterity." This whimsical, compassionate film focuses on a young woman constantly daydreaming of impending disaster, visions Watt renders with her unique animations. When she finally does witness a real accident, it transforms her life by opening it up to strangers trying to break free of their own isolation and confusion. The film was included in the most recent New Directors/New Films festival, an annual series presented by The Museum of Modern Art and The Film Society of Lincoln Center. (35mm, 100 mins.)
