Take What You Can Carry

(2015)

a woman with a white towel wrapped around her hair, standing in front of a mirror in a bathroom

A melancholy meditation on space, transience, and creativity, Matt Porterfield’s short film Take What You Can Carry is a sensitive portrait of Lilly, an American expat living in Berlin. An expressive improvised dance scene fleshes out Lilly’s interior emotions and offers a window into in the complexities of human connection and isolation. Porterfield visits on June 9 to screen his new work Sollers Point, supported by a Wexner Center Artist Residency Award. (30 mins., HD video)
