A group of rich preppies gathers in New York for debutante ball season during their first winter break from college. The group’s dynamic is stirred with the introduction of middle-class Tom (Edward Clements), who questions their decadent, aimless way of life structured around parties, bridge, and booze-fueled discussions about social mobility.
