An exposé on the evils of opium addiction, Narcotic follows a medical student who becomes hooked, leading him into a downward spiral toward degeneracy. (61 mins., DCP) Preceded by the trailer for Seventh Commandment, all that remains of the first feature by Dwain Esper. (2 mins., DCP)
Marihuana follows a group of partying high school kids who are introduced to the drug by a pair of older sophisticates (and it turns out, traffickers). Naturally, one of the kids drowns and another becomes pregnant—and then gets involved in drug trafficking herself. (55 mins, DCP)
The program is introduced by series curator Bret Wood, who’ll discuss the career notorious B-movie entrepreneur Dwain Esper. Wood is coauthor of the book Forbidden Fruit: The Golden Age of the Exploitation Film (1999).
