We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. If you require an accommodation to participate in this event, please contact Accessibility Manager Helyn Marshall at accessibility@wexarts.org or via telephone at (614) 688-3890. Requests made two weeks in advance of the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the Wexner Center for the Arts will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
We’re excited to once again share the Quay Brothers’ Wex-supported Unmistaken Hands: Ex Voto F.H.—this year, as part of Cartoon Crossroads Columbus (CXC) 2020.
In the fall of 2013, the Wexner Center was proud to host Stephen and Timothy Quay in our Film/Video Studio as they completed work on the film, which had its world premiere at the center on November 2 of that year. Produced with the support of a Wexner Center Artist Residency Award, Unmistaken Hands revolves around the work and life of Uruguayan writer Felisberto Hernández—often referred to as "the father of magic realism”—an author with whom the Quays share an affinity. Unmistaken Hands possesses all of the flourishes for which the filmmakers (who happen to be identical twins) have come to be known: a hermetic world, a disorienting soundtrack, and brilliant stop-motion animation. (26 mins., digital video)
This year’s four-day CXC festival is completely online with events also being presented by Ohio State’s Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus Museum of Art, and Columbus Metropolitan Library. Visit the CXC website for the full festival schedule.
