River of Grass

(Kelly Reichardt, 1994)

New Restoration

River of Grass

Rarely seen since its original run in theatres, Reichardt’s debut film has finally been restored and rereleased! River of Grass follows a bored housewife who accepts an aimless man’s invitation to go pool hopping, only to end up on a series of misadventures that see them unable to break out of their stifling environments. The darkly comic and deadpan film draws on Reichardt’s own adolescence in southern Florida with a detective father and a narcotics agent mother. (76 mins., DCP)
