Winner of six Israeli Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Screenplay.

Director Joseph Cedar's first feature length film, Time of Favor (100 mins.) is a compelling thriller about Messianic nationalist settlers who conspire to blow up the Dome of the Rock mosque on the Temple Mount, the quintessential symbol of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The conflict is played out in a love triangle between an Orthodox army officer (played by heartthrob Aki Avni), his best friend, and a rabbi's daughter whom both men desire.

Screening first is Jeff Krulik's short Obsessed with Jews (1999; 9 mins.), a surprising and funny visual record of famous Jews.

Postscreening discussion led by Robin Judd, Department of History, and Donald Sylvan, Department of Political Science.

International films presented with support from the Ohio Arts Council.
