"Simply one of the best films about childhood ever made."—Village Voice

Now living in New York, Korean-born director So Yong Kim reimagines her girlhood in the stunningly imaginative Treeless Mountain. The story follows two sisters, one six and one four, after their mother virtually abandons them, leaving them to shuttle between an alcoholic aunt and their grandparents in a rural village. Kim's extraordinarily intuitive relationship with the two little girls results in performances both heart-piercing and entirely unsentimental. (89 mins., 35mm)
