"A new Daniel MacIvor play is always exciting."—Now (Toronto) Be among the first to see the latest production from da da kamera, the Toronto-based vanguard theater ensemble led by artistic director Daniel MacIvor. The company returns to the Wexner Center for a three-week creative residency that concludes with the premiere of A Beautiful View.

The project has evolved quite a bit since it was launched in its first creative residency here in 2001. As MacIvor now sees it, "A Beautiful View is a play about joy and misery, confusion and clarity, how nothing ever changes and how one moment can alter the whole world. In short, it is a play about love." Two women meet and become lovers, split up, and hook up again three times, while in their twenties, thirties, and forties, discovering that "it's impossible to let go of something that's holding on to you."

A creative look at a modern love story, A Beautiful View is the final new stage production planned by da da kamera. Artistic Director Daniel MacIvor intends to concentrate on freelance work in theater and continue making and acting in films. This is a bittersweet moment for those of us who have avidly tracked the ensemble's projects over the years. But we are pleased and proud that MacIvor and da da kamera chose to work in partnership with the Wexner Center on this last production--and that we are able to introduce you to MacIvor's film work too. Daniel MacIvor appears as a visiting filmmaker at the Wexner Center on Wednesday, February 15, introducing a screening of his bittersweet comedy feature Wilby Wonderful.

The 7 pm performance on Sunday, March 5, has been canceled.

This project made possible in part by a grant from the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Ensemble Theatre Collaborations Grant Program, a component of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation Theatre Initiative and the National Endowment for the Arts.
