"A visceral, costumed, voodoo-cursed blend of classic R&B and soul traversing the soundscapes of Curtis Mayfield, New Orleans funk, Screamin' Jay Hawkins and James Brown, but laid out in much rockier, pulpier, sweatier terms."--NOW Some shows are just for fun...and this is one of them. Garage-rockin' psychedelic soul collective King Khan & the Shrines crank out a combo of killer riffs and unhinged stage antics that's guaranteed to start a party. Sounding like Sun Ra meets ? and the Mysterians at a carnival sideshow, this Montreal-Berlin axis nine-piece big band kick out the jams with a contagious, crazed zeal that just plain can't be denied. Mark Sultan—aka BBQ of King Khan and the BBQ Show fame—will preheat the stage. Come to the Wexner Center Store before the show (starting at 7:30 PM) for free food and giveaways, with King Khan band members likely in attendance, at a Tweet&Greet hosted by the Wexner Center and Ohio State's Kiplinger Program in Public Affairs Journalism.
