Film Works by Teen Artists Will Also Be Featured in Youth Showcase
Now in its 12th year, the Ohio Short Film & Video Showcase will bring together an impressive array of independently produced film and video works from filmmakers across the state of Ohio—from Toledo to Cincinnati to Cleveland. Each film selected is under 20 minutes long and produced in the Buckeye State within the past 18 months, and was selected by a panel of Wexner Center Media Arts staff members. The range of genre, tone, and production value of the selected films reflect the ingenuity, creativity, and diversity of Ohio’s vibrant film culture. The screening of the selected films takes place May 12 in the Wexner Center Film/Video Theater.
Also this year, the event again includes a Youth Division highlighting work by Ohio film and video makers 18 years old or younger. The works in the Youth Division were selected by Wexner Center Educator in Youth Programs Kendra Meyer, video artist and educator Cory Aumiller, video artist and educator Liv Gjestvang, and youth video artist Sarah Taylor. Prizes will be awarded to the top youth-produced videos, including a grand prize of editing time and assistance in the Wexner Center’s Art & Technology studio.
Notes Wexner Center Media Arts curator Dave Filipi, “It’s a thrill to provide Ohio filmmakers a forum for sharing their work. The work we’ll be screening is a testament to thriving film scene here in Ohio.”
