Columbus, OH—The Wexner Center for the Arts has announced its winter/spring 2009 lineup in performing arts, film, visual arts, architecture, and design from around the globe. A PDF of the season brochure can be downloaded here. Tickets to performing arts events are on sale now to members and to the general public beginning January 5 (wexarts.org or 614 292-3535).

Notes Wexner Center Director Sherri Geldin, "The coming months at the Wex feature an especially global cast of characters addressing issues of global import, from urbanism to climate change to connectivity in a wired world. With artists, works, and experiences originating on virtually every continent, the Wexner Center becomes a nexus for cultural expression and exchange of truly planetary dimension."

Highlights in the coming months include:

Three new exhibitions opening April 2 and running through July 26, including South African artist Robin Rhode's first significant U.S. museum show; a highly designed exhibition showcasing the work of Austrian architecture firm COOP HIMMELB(L)AU (in its only U.S. stop); and the first major U.S. presentation of choreographer (and former Wexner Prize recipient) William Forsythe's gallery installations. With these shows, the galleries will again be free.

Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms—just called "obligatory viewing" by an Artforum editor in its "Best of 2008" issue—continues through February 15. (A closing weekend celebration for Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms is on the docket, including a Velvet Underground tribute by Times New Viking, late hours, and other surprises.)
A slice of what's new from Japan, with the Columbus premiere of theater company chelfitsch February 12–14, and a showcase of three dance companies in Japan Dance Now February 19-21. And in May, we'll spotlight the genius of subversive filmmaker Nagisa Oshima, who made his name in the 1960s.

Innovative theater experiences including Ray Lee's Siren (February 26–28); the world premiere of Panic (March 4–7) by witty British company Improbable; CONTINUOUS CITY, the latest from tech-savvy theater group The Builders Association (April 16–18); and more.
Israel's leading contemporary dance company, Batsheva, returning with its latest work Three (February 10); our Next @ Wex indie music series featuring Antony and the Johnsons (February 4), Los Campesinos! (February 11), and others; and global family-music star Dan Zanes returning for a big dance-party concert March 28.
