Columbus, OH—The Wexner Center for the Arts announced its fall season at a launch party last week. In addition to the exclusive U.S. presentation of the exhibition Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms and special programs related to that show, the Wexner Center will offer a full slate of exceptional performing arts events (including two world premieres), film screenings, lectures, symposia, artist talks, and events for families.
Notes Wexner Center Director Sherri Geldin, “While the Warhol show—which will fill the entirety of the Wexner Center’s gallery spaces—will clearly be the centerpiece of our fall lineup, we’ll also present our customary array of arts experiences in all media. More than ever, the Wexner Center will provide the most dynamic ‘one-stop cultural shop’ for anyone with an interest in contemporary artistic programming.”
Highlights include:
· The world premiere of Young Jean Lee’s The Shipment, which will be presented at the end of this provocative theater director’s residency at the Wexner Center.
· The world premiere of choreographer Bebe Miller’s Necessary Beauty, a dance work supported through commissioning funds from the Wexner Center.
· A retrospective of the films of David Lean (Bridge on the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia).
· A visit by and screenings of the works of acclaimed experimental filmmaker Phil Solomon (who has earned some attention with his video works that use footage from Grand Theft Auto video games).
· Columbus International Children’s Film Festival, now in its fifth year.
· A Warhol symposium, Warhol-themed music shows, the Andyland party, First Sundays (including Drag Day), and much more.
Tickets are on sale now for Wexner Center members and to the general public beginning September 2 (614 292-3535 or visit wexarts.org).
